DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
Assessing assistive device / durable medical equipment needs (e.g. wheelchairs, hospital beds, mechanical lifts, shower/toilet equipment, feeding utensils, etc.)
Assisting with ordering, installing, and equipment education and training
Power mobility assessments
FALLS PREVENTION
Areas of focus may include:
Changes in or difficulty walking
Unsteadiness / gait training
Coordination challenges
Vertigo / dizziness
Changes in vision
Comprehensive fall prevention assessment
Fall prevention education and strategies
FUNCTIONAL SKILL TRAINING
Areas of focus may include:
Increasing difficulty with transfers and mobility (e.g. bed mobility)
Education and training on transfer safety and precautions
Fine motor challenges
Difficulty feeding
Home safety assessments / environmental modifications
Enhancing skills for safety and highest level of independence during daily tasks
Urinary incontinence
COGNITION
Areas of focus may include:
Changes in cognition (e.g. memory, safety awareness, judgement)
Environmental modifications designed to support cognitive functioning
Enhancing sensory processes
Dementia assessment and caregiver education and training on relationship between cognitive function and daily task performance
